Re: Private Malcolm Smith, thanks for posting the pic, I didn't have one previously. He was my great-grandfather's (Alexander Smith) brother. My great aunt says he came to visit Canada and joined up. I have copies of his attestation papers if you are interested, regards, Vikki Smith
Vikki,
Many thanks for your feedback, and for giving some background information on Malcolm Smith. I appreciate your offer of the attestation papers, but I have access to these through Libraries Canada
ADB
hello Vikki, I was reading your posts and have realised that you are a distant cousin of ours. Norman Campbell, 12 Aird (pictured) was my great uncle, Jessie Campbell nee Smith was your great grandfathers sister. Is your great aunt in Canada Innez by any chance??? Would love to hear from you,
Elaine Maxwell
Norman Campbell is also my great uncle, Elaine. It doesn't appear that great uncle Norman has a known grave as he is not listed on the Commonwealth War Graves site. But my Dad looked him up in the archives in Edinburgh Castle a long time ago and he is listed there.
From what I have established you and I are second cousins. Your mum and my dad are cousins. Don't want to go into it too much here as it's a public forum.
If you want to get in touch look me up on Facebook.
David K Campbell.
