Your comment, "resulting in the family being wiped out," is a trifle misleading. The parents of John b.1892, Donald b.1883, and Angus b.1894 were Norman b.1843 and Catherine nee Maclean b.1859 (Tobson/Lundale). They were parents of 12 children with one dying in infancy (Jane b.1880). The 11 remaining offspring grew to adulthood, but alas 3 sons (John, Donald and Angus) were killed in the Great War. My grandmother was a sister to these 3 brothers killed, and I do know that she, a sister Jane and 3 brothers Duncan, Murdo and Norman emmigrated to Canada.
